Contributing to Rm3's Learning

Today it was we outside so we played some indoor games with Rm3. Rm3 spent some time practicing their doubles to 20. Then we played last card, memory, snap and snakes and ladders. All good games for teaching turn taking. 

Arataki Year 8 Challenge

Topkids Kindy Visit

As part of our contributing unit this term we are creating a partnership with Topkids Kindy. Today we went for our first visit to meet the kids we will be working with.

Moana Speeches

Today was the Te Moana Speech finals. Rowena and Anishka represented Room 9 as our Year 7 and 8 finalists. 

A massive congratulations to Rowena who was the overall Year 7 winner.

Book Week

This week we have been celebrating book week. 

Well done Christian, Yiji, Joshua and Paere for getting dressed up for the parade. You all looked amazing!

Helping Room 3 with their Learning

On Friday we played games with Room 3. We used the games to teach turn taking, playing fair and being a good sport.

Contributing to Room 3's Learning

Today we started working with our buddies in Room 3. We had a great time playing games with them and teaching them new skills.

Welcome Back to Term 2!

This term we are learning about how we can contribute to our school and wider community. We will be starting with how we can contribute to the learning of the Junior students in our school.

Maths Games

This week we are learning about coordinates in geometry so today we played Battleships to get us started reading and saying coordinates correctly.

Learning About the World

Each week Room 9 does a weekly quiz to learn about current events from around the world. Students use the internet to research and answer questions about different things that have happened recently in the news. 

Alim Group

This week the Intermediate are starting their Alim groups. Each group will receive 15 minutes of extra maths each day. This week we are looking at the place value of whole numbers.

Growth Mindset- Learning to Fail

Yesterday Room 9 took part in an activity where they needed to show persistence and resilience as they tried to solve a problem that didn't have an obvious solution. The goal for the exercise was that they kept trying to solve it even when they were frustrated.

Kiwisport

This term we are learning the skills needed to play softball. This week we go to play our first game and learnt the basic rules.

Glenburn Visit

On Monday the year 7 and 8's went to Glenburn Rest Home to spend some time with the residents there. We played housie, board games and talked with the residents.
