Learning About the World

Each week Room 9 does a weekly quiz to learn about current events from around the world. Students use the internet to research and answer questions about different things that have happened recently in the news. 

Alim Group

This week the Intermediate are starting their Alim groups. Each group will receive 15 minutes of extra maths each day. This week we are looking at the place value of whole numbers.

Growth Mindset- Learning to Fail

Yesterday Room 9 took part in an activity where they needed to show persistence and resilience as they tried to solve a problem that didn't have an obvious solution. The goal for the exercise was that they kept trying to solve it even when they were frustrated.

Kiwisport

This term we are learning the skills needed to play softball. This week we go to play our first game and learnt the basic rules.

Glenburn Visit

On Monday the year 7 and 8's went to Glenburn Rest Home to spend some time with the residents there. We played housie, board games and talked with the residents.

Mixed Ability Problem Solving

Today we had our first problem solving session. Students worked together in groups of 3 to solve three different addition and subtraction problems using different strategies.

Goal Setting

Room 9 has set their goals for the rest of the term for reading, writing and maths. Everyone is striving to improve themselves!
